Finally! The Easiest Cure for Artist’s Block

October 11, 2021October 11, 2021 jennaquinter 1 comment

It was a Wednesday evening and while I was skimming through my Facebook feed something caught my attention. It was a bright colorful photo of a gorgeous painting that looked like something from Monet’s Garden in France. This struck a cord for me because in 2015 my sweet Mimi Beverly Jayne Turner brought me to the South of France with her for a painter’s retreat. This trip was unforgettable and really something that was a once in a lifetime experience for most people.

It brought back such a familiar yet distant feeling because I toured Monet’s Garden along with many other beautiful places and whimsical castles. I loved getting lost in France. So when I was scrolling I realized it was an AD from Nancy Medina’s Artist Club Membership. She had reopened her Monet course. The art she shared was from the exact trip I had taken over 6 years ago!

Artist Nancy Medina, my late Grandmother Beverly Jayne Foster Turner, Me Jenna Burns Quinter. August 2015 in Le Levieux Couvent in Frayssient, France.

Since my Mimi had passed August 13, 2020. I realized August 14 was our Anniversary from when we had last traveled. I didn’t realize it had been 6 years since I picked up the paint brush!

All of the sudden, I was reminded of how peaceful I felt when painting and I wanted a reason to feel more connected with my late grandmother and our amazing trip. I also wanted to paint a few pictures for my future daughter’s nursery. She is going to be born estimated on Feb 11, 2022. I’m so happy I ran across Nancy’s Facebook Ad because it allowed me to day dream and gain lots of idea’s for what I wanted to paint. Plus– my amazing hubby kept asking me when I was going to pick up my painting hobby again. It was like I was getting a nudge from everyone in my Universe. I slept on it and decided to sign up!

Nancy offer’s courses anywhere from $39.99 to $499. She also has in person workshops and incredible excursions across the globe.

Since I’m still a beginner, I decided to sign up for her $39.99 monthly membership that allows me access to one new painting a month and her LIVE Studio library. I’m also part of her exclusive artist Facebook Private Group. I’ll upgrade later once I know I want to invest even more in my training. You can sign up here: https://www.nancymedina.com/joyful

If you are struggling with artist’s block then I suggest you to do one of the following:

  1. Remind yourself of your favorite art and artists.
  2. Sign up for an online course or in person course.
  3. Join a artist Meetup.com group.
  4. Get out and be adventurous. Take a walk in nature. It will remind you how vibrant the colors are outdoors once you start painting again.
  5. Turn off social media and sign up for something creative.
  6. Visit a museum. You could experience the NEON SIGN Museum in Las Vegas or book a trip to experience The Ice Cream Museum or the Van Gogh Exhibit.
  7. Job Shadow a local artist!
  8. Just get started already!

“All artists start out as amateurs” – Ralph Waldo

Sitting down to create can be intimidating. It doesn’t have to be. I mean don’t be like me and put art on hold. However, if it has been 6 years since you painted at least you can know it is never too late to start pursuing your hobbies again. The most successful people never give up.

Artist’s Block can be really frustrating. Creating and having the desire to create shouldn’t be something that stresses you out. In fact, quite the opposite. I hope after reading this you’ve got inspired how you too can overcome Artist’s Block and/or procrastination when it comes your way.

I know God and my guardian art angels must have put everything into place because when I needed to stock up on art supplies my local art store was going out of business and had everything marked down to 40%. Is that perfect timing or what?

From one newbie artist to another – you’ve got this!

Hey babes, What do you do to get past Artist’s Block? Share in the comments!

P.S I’ll link my France itinerary very soon!!
